HOUSTON MAGICAL LIGHTS

CITY LIGHTS DOWNTOWN HOLIDAY MAGIC 2023 - Experience the holidays in Houston with this spectacular annual family-friendly, playful event including ice skating, Christmas Lights and family activities. You and your family can celebrate the holidays with 11 themed villages in Houston’s downtown district. This event is presented by Shell Energy and mainly free for the pubic to enter.

MUSEUM DISTRICT ZOO LIGHTS - Another holiday tradition in Houston brings us to the Houston Zoo for an animal-themed holiday light display. The zoo is lit with earth-friendly lights and is even sensory inclusive. Explore around, view the 33-foot holiday tree and make smores with hot chocolate! This event runs through January 7th in the evening. Tickets must be pre-purchased online.

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS RIVER OAKS HOUSTON - Enjoy one of Houston’s most beautiful neighborhoods lit up with spectactular light displays. Each home is brighter and more extravagant than the next! The homes on River Oaks Blvd by the River Oaks Country Club are the most expansive, and you can drive through the neighborhood to see mansion after mansion adorned in holiday lights. Self drive (no tickets needed) and running through December 26th.

HOUSTON HOLIDAY EVENTS

THE NUTCRACKER - Houston Ballet presents the Nutcracker spectacular at the Wortham Theater, running through December 27th. Experience this show’s one and only magic and wonder, lights, music and characters that will leave you wanting more! Reserve your tickets in advance.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL - The Alley Theatre presents this seasonal favorite through December 30th. Experience the classic tale with holiday magic, sure to make you smile and feel the holiday spirit!

CITY PLACE GIANT GINGERBREAD VILLAGE - This family friendly (and free!) attraction is an annual holiday tradition in Greater Houston. You will find live events and entertainment, festive holiday lights and sights, giant gingerbread men and a gingerbread house, and even a huge Christmas tree. The live events end on December 23 but the village will be open through January 7, 2024 at City Place, 1250 Lake Plaza Drive, Spring, TX 77389.

NEW YEAR’S EVE HOUSTON - Celebrate the New Year in style in the great city of Houston, TX. Whether it is kid-friendly daytime events or evening parties and bar crawls, you will have plenty to see and do in the city on December 31, 2023. Some hotels offer special packages and there are lights and firework displays as well. Check out Visit Houston’s New Year’s Eve event list.
