Texas Medical Center’s TMC3 to Bring Innovation and Talent to Houston

Texas Medical Center patient housing

Texas Medical Center (TMC) reports that it’s elected to move forward with construction of the dynamic TMC3 Campus. With the help of its developmental and architectural team – Elkus Manfredi Architects, Transwestern, and Vaughn Construction – TMC plans to open the campus in 2022.

TMC CEO and president, Bill McKeon, feels confident that his team of architects will achieve the vision imagined by TMC3’s founding institutions. Those include TMC, Texas A&M University Health Science Center, Baylor College of Medicine, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, and The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston

The envisioned c.ampus will include green space, a hotel and conference center, research facilities, residential plans, and retail space.

Innovative design to bring top talent together.

The campus will feature a DNA helix-inspired design reflected by the structures and grounds.

David Manfredi, the CEO of Elkus Manfredi Architects, wants that design to bring a sense of connectedness to the campus. The design will physically connect the buildings and symbolically connect the businesses and organizations that conduct their affairs within those buildings.

The goal of that connectedness is to capture and maintain the interest of the talented individuals that will occupy those spaces. The social component should create a dynamic environment that brings these individuals together to create a more meaningful work-life balance.

Other exemplary medical accommodations created by Elkus Manfredi Architects include The Stanley Building at the Broad Institute in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the New York Genome Center, and the original Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard.

Collaborating Together

The campus will feature the TMC3 Collaborative, a place for conferences and meetings with industry frontrunners. It will include an open atrium and food and beverage amenities. It also will have areas for joint research.

In addition to creating a place where exceptional scientists can connect and share resources, each of the five partner institutions will benefit from the project. Baylor

College of Medicine and Texas A&M Health Science Center research building will particularly benefit from the expansions, while the others will also gain new research facilities.

McKeon envisions the center as being a national cornerstone for life sciences, or “the Third Coast.”

Are you a part of this fantastic endeavor, and do you need a place to stay while in Houston?

TMC3 will substantially boost Houston’s economy by creating 30,000 jobs. With the wait for campus completion lasting until 2022, it isn’t a bad time to consider temporary, luxury housing.

The connectedness of the new campus will bring many bright minds together. But, some bright minds need time to recharge away from all the bustle of innovation, and a place to relax and recharge. Many of our TMC extended stay home rentals have amenities like swimming pools and concierge services to provide everything you’ll need.

Even after the campus is complete, many medical professionals and scientists will find themselves staying for short and long-term visits to work with peers at the TMC3 Campus. Don’t limit yourself to the impersonal nature of a hotel – think about finding a home through us.
