Airbnb to Fortify Houston with More Listings Near Texas Medical Center
Recently, Airbnb executives have announced their intentions to mobilize expansion efforts into in the greater Houston area. Currently, they are well-represented in the downtown core, Montrose, and the inner loop, and are seeing growth in many suburban areas such as Katy, Sugar Land, and beyond.

According to Laura Spanjian, Airbnb’s public policy director for the Southwestern United States, the area around the Texas Medical Center has become an area of focus. Speaking to Houston Matters on KUHF 88.7FM, Spanjian noted that there are many people who come to Houston seeking treatment at the medical center who prefer to stay in a home rather than a hotel.
The Texas Medical Center, along with being the largest Life Sciences facility in the world, is home to 21 different hospitals and eight research facilities, each a highly specialized unit that caters to complex medical concerns ranging from cancer to heart disease, to cutting-edge surgical techniques.
