Houston to Host the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in May

The Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) has officially announced that its flagship conference will be held in Houston from May 6 to May 9. The OTC is a venue where energy professionals meet to share ideas concerning technical and scientific advancement of offshore and environmental matters.

The opening session’s theme will be “The Next 50 Years of Offshore Developments”. Top industry executives will talk about their visions and what their companies are doing to lead offshore operations towards the latest innovations in automation, digitalization, and machine learning.

More than 13 organizations from the energy industry sponsor the event, including AAPG, the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Oceanic Engineering Society, the Marine Technology Society, the Society of Exploration Geophysicists, and others. The organizations work together to develop the program to showcase the latest innovative technologies that are expected to lead the industry forward.

OTC has held its annual conference in the Space City since 1969. The 2019 conference will mark its 50th year in celebrating technological energy advancements. It will be held at NRG Park.

Awards are a highlight during the OTC event.

Eighteen technologies will receive awards during the 2019 Spotlight on New Technology presentation, which will be held during May 6. This year’s winners are:

  • Weatherford, producer of TR1PTM Single-Trip Completion System

  • TechnipFMC, producer of Subsea 2.0TM In-Line Compact Robotic Manifold

  • Baker Hughes, a GE company (BHGE), producer of NovaLTTM16

  • Dril-Quip Inc., producer of Double Expansion XPakTM Liner Hanger

  • FutureOn, producer of FieldAPTM—a FieldTwinTM Platform Application

  • HYTORC, producer of LITHIUM SERIES II

  • Stress Engineering Services Inc., producer of Condition Based Maintenance of Drilling Riser Systems

  • XSENS AS, producer of XACT Ultrasonic clamp-on Flowmeter

  • NOV, producer of Subsea Automated Pig Launcher (SAPL)

  • SIEMENS, producer of BlueVaultTM Energy Storage

OTC will also recognize innovative solutions that are being developed by small businesses with its Spotlight on Small Business Award. Honorees must meet certain criteria and be independently owned and operated or a non-profit with 300 employees or less.
