Tech Jobs Continue to Grow Houston’s Economy…and its Population

Houston Corporate Housing

According to CompTIA’s Cyberstates 2019 report, Texas is second only to California when it comes to net tech employment. And much of the Lone Star state’s tech workers reside in Houston. This means tech jobs continue to grow Houston’s economy, and as a result, it’s population. Overall, the Space City has more than 227,000 jobs in the digital tech industry. That number is expected to climb, according to the report’s findings, which forecasts a growth of nearly 5.9% more tech jobs by 2026. Tech jobs in the state are also expected to increase by 13.3%.

Software and web developers, cybersecurity analysts, computer system analysts, and computer support specialists top the list of jobs that account for the most growth in Houston’s tech hub. And while job growth has fallen in other industries, new postings for jobs in the technology sector continue to increase exponentially. Wages for Houston’s tech workers are also higher. In fact, the median wages for jobs in the tech industry are 93% higher in Houston than they are in the rest of the U.S.

Researchers who compiled the report used data from several sources, including the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Hoovers, and others.

What does all this mean for Houston’s housing market?

Houston’s population is forecast to grow from its current 2019 population of 2.162 to 2.52 million people by next year.

If last year is any indication, it looks like Houston’s housing market will continue to boom. According to HAR (Houston’s Association of Realtors), last year’s sales for single-family homes beat the previous year by 3.8%. The total dollar volume of homes sold in Houston was $28 billion in 2018. This figure represents an all-time high.

With more open technology-related jobs becoming available, the number can only climb even higher. And this means when it comes to employees relocating to the area, a corporate single-family home rental might be in order.

If you’re relocating to the Bayou City, the last thing you want to do is to rush into a new home purchase while the competition in finding a home is steep. For one thing, you’ll be in a hurry to get settled in on your new job, which will require your full attention. You may even want to be sure your new position is right for you.

Then, you’ll want to take your time finding the perfect home for you and your family. A wise commitment seldom happens overnight. You’ll want to get to know the area first, learning which neighborhood is right for you. It also takes time to find everything you’re looking for in a home.

So, what’s the best solution for tech workers coming to Houston?

We believe it’s a Houston corporate housing rental. These are private, upscale homes located in stellar neighborhoods. They have all the conveniences and amenities of home. They’re even furnished, so all you literally have to bring with you is a suitcase with your wardrobe.

Relocating for a new job is stressful all on its own. With a corporate rental home, you’re able to save the major stress of finding a home for later, when it’s more convenient.
