Relocation housing Houston

Are you looking for a new job? Thinking about moving to Houston to take advantage of its hot job market and highly desirable lifestyle? If you are, there has never been a better time than right now.

Houston is booming with new business and it is plain to see that there is no slowing down on the horizon. With so much new development and expansion going on, we can only assume that the trend will continue.

Earlier this year, Business Facilities ranked Houston at the top of its annual report for economic growth potential – and it’s not just about oil or the space program. You need to consider the Texas Medical Center, 20 Fortune 500 companies, and more than 6,400 major manufacturing companies – and that’s just for starters.

The best companies to work at in Houston are not necessarily the biggest

The Houston Business Journal has recently released their 2018 list of the best companies to work for in Houston. The ranking is based on actual employee surveys compiled by Quantum Workplace, a Nebraska-based software company that helps managers drive workplace culture through employee feedback.

The survey considered many aspects in determining their conclusions. Mitigating factors included work-life balance, parental time off, and various perks and incentives that employees find value in. Though the final rankings won’t be revealed until HBJ’s celebratory luncheon in late October, we do know the broad strokes, separated only by company size.

Some of the top contenders might surprise you as they are not necessarily “big name” companies or companies whose names you would even recognize. They are simply organizations who do good business, who value their employees and want to make sure they feel at home.

In the size category of 10 – 49 employees, some of the companies include:

  • 3 Men Movers

  • Carlton Staffing

  • H3 Concepts, Inc.

  • Krueger Real Estate

  • Studio Red Architects

There are 55 companies listed in this category, which makes up the bulk of the nominations.

In the medium-sized business category (50 to 99 employees), you will find only 21 entrants, among them:

  • FlightAware

  • DPR Construction

  • Texan Bank

  • Frontier Title Co. LLC

  • Benchmark, A Global Hospitality Co.

In the large business category (100 – 499 employees), there are 22 nominees, including:

  • Arch-Con Construction

  • Hyatt Regency Houston

  • Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Gary Greene

  • Accudata Systems Inc.

  • Shell Federal Credit Union

Finally, in the extra-large category, you will find only four nominees:

  • Accenture

  • Bayshore Medical Center

  • Insperity Inc.

  • YES Prep Public Schools

The survey asked employees their opinions on several areas including leadership, innovation, communication, support, and opportunity for advancement. Each of the companies included in the survey was assigned a score out of 100 points.

Last year’s big winner was PaySphere Payroll & HR, a small payroll outsourcing and human resources company of only 12 employees who gave their company an outstanding 98.939 points out of 100 – proving that you don’t have to work for NASA to feel like you’re contributing something important to the world.

All in all, these results prove that Houston is a great place to work and that no matter what you do, there is likely a company here who would welcome your input and nurture your talent.
